Convert VHS Movies to DVDs   by Jennifer Bell

Home movies have been a part of family life for a long time. From the old reel-to-reel projectors and their miles of film to the modern camcorder and its flash memory cards, capturing the important events of our lives has been and will continue to be an important part of growing up as a family.
I, for one, still have old reels of family movies tucked safely away in wooden cigar boxes on my office shelves. Unfortunately, however, I no longer have a projector on which to view them. I look at them and sigh, remembering in my mind's eye what was captured on those old reels of file. Other living memories of family life are contained on VHS tapes, a more modern form of movie magic, which someday will be ancient history as well. The VHS format still has some life left in it. Nevertheless, even VHS tapes are prone to physical damage because of the frail nature of the media.
It is possible, however, to preserve those precious memories on different and more durable form of media. DVDs are more durable than VHS tapes, take up less room for storage and transfer their contents to other forms of media more effectively and much easier. Furthermore, playback is not limited to one type of machine. DVDs are not limited to viewing on a television and DVD player combination, but most new desktop and laptop computer can access the contents. The contents are transferrable to the large external hard drives that are common these days and are shareable on a network as well.
It makes sense, therefore, to transfer those old VHS tapes to the more modern and versatile DVD format. The average user can do this process provided he or she has the time, equipment and patience to complete the task. While cheap equipment can provide passable results, the better the equipment used, the better the finished product. However, is it cost effective to buy expensive, high-end equipment for the task, only to have it laying around, collecting dust after the job is done? The recorder could be sold to someone else, but the price received will not even be close to the purchase price.
A better option for most people would be to secure the migration services of a data recovery company. While most people associate a recovery service with hard disk file recovery, many offer more services than computer recovery alone. They are often able to transfer many older data formats to newer storage media. In this respect, the data recovery expert is now a family memory preservationist. He or she will transfer your old home movies onto DVDs safely and securely. Your life record can now be stored and shared with future generations for years to come.

Technology is Supporting Companies to Grown Even Older   by Knayan

For any of the company is the world mergers can be one of the greatest sources of the growth and the financial stability of the company, but provided the mergers of both company agree with each other. The process of the merging is one of the toughest processes in the world because it takes too much time and requires too much skill. Basically merging two computers is one of the most difficult tasks of the world. But without the process of merging of the salesforce data migration all the future strategies for business may get into danger or may face great losses.
Basically the merging of data when performed manually can definitely drain the resources of the company on which a company runs so one requires something which can make the things go without any difficulty. Fortunately there are number of technology advancements which have taken place which allows a company to merge two computers automatically and to merge all the data of two computers into one single computer. But be aware that there are number of companies who carry out the work of merging and cloud data integration and they are suffering from number of legal hearings because of their lack of care made their client to shut down his or her company.
It's a fact that all the data merger companies are not having the same stories but directly or indirectly they have made their clients to face number of losses in each and every aspect. Whenever in a company all old devices are replaced by the new one then all the files and data from the old devices should be transferred from the old devices to the new one long before starting any productive work for the company. But this process used to be really very hectic and time consuming but now with the advancement of technology and software the process of migration and integration have become as simple as taking butter from the butter knife. There are number of business intelligence data and records which allow a company to keep all the data of the previous year intact for decades and even more.
Also there are number of applications which are available on internet which are required by the company in order to keep all its records intact for whole life in order to remain away from the any kind crisis which may raise its head in future.

Migrating Old Data to New Media   by Jennifer Bell

Since the old high school days, over three and a half decades ago, I have seen many changes in the technologies that affect our lives. Technology has changed the way we cook, clean, navigate, communicate and entertain ourselves. From the kitchen microwave oven to GPS locator in our cars, every aspect of daily living has been touched in some way by the evolution of technology.
This evolution has taken many directions. Some technologies have moved toward miniaturization. Some have made advancements in speed, accuracy and efficiency. Technological evolution in data storage has led to faster access, improved reliability and larger amounts of data stored on smaller media. The changes in computer technology have been astounding.
Trying to keep up, especially in the area of data storage, can be a daunting task. A recent rummage through old storage boxes in the office revealed a treasure trove of old technologies. Floppy disks, stacked neatly in disk holders brought back memories of my first computer. New computers rarely come with a floppy drive, so accessing the data on them could be a challenge. Many of us old timers remember installing DOS and other operating systems, like Windows 95, by inserting disk after disk during the install process. Weighing in at a hefty 1.4 megabyte, the old floppies could not even begin to store the volumes of information used today.
Further exploration revealed even more treasures. Zip disks, a sort of super-sized floppy, were the next discovery. These particular disks held 100 MB of data and required a special drive to read and write them. As that media evolved, 250 MB and 750 MB capacity disks arrived. Of course, the larger disks needed a new drive to access them. Its cousin, the Jaz disk and drive also came to life. New, more efficient forms of storage eventually replaced that technology.
One last hurrah went up for the floppy with the development of the LS-120 super floppy. The 120 MB capacity meant that much more data could be stored on one disk. The data from well over 100 of the old floppies could now reside on one of these. However, I never did buy one that I can recall.
Even the computer hard drive went through changes. The old "scuzzy" or SCSI drives were good, reliable drives. However, you rarely see them at all these days, at least not in personal computers and laptops.
So what happens to all this data on media that has become outdated? Data migration is the answer and a data recovery service can provide the solution. They are normally thought of as those guys that perform NTFS file recovery on PCs and hard drive crash recovery on any computer. But these experts can also migrate your old computer files to the newer, more efficient storage options.

How to Earn Money Online: Driving Relevant Traffic to Your Site   by Phillip Parisis

Making money online is not a very easy task. If you decide to create a blog and your own niche, then you should also understand the dynamics of relevant traffic and how to use Google for your advantage. Google is the web's biggest search engine and if you want to have a step forward from your competition, you should understand your competition. Being an online affiliate marketer has a lot of advantages but it also requires that you work hard in order for you to succeed.
Here are some things that you need to be aware of when you use Google Keywords:
1. List down the keywords so you'll gauge your competition better. When you choose your keyword, you have to first write down all the keywords that you can think of that would drive relevant traffic to your site. After listing them down, use the Google Keyword and research further on your chosen keywords. When you do this, you will get valuable insights on the keywords that your competition might be using which are also effective.
2. Observe the competition bar. The competition bar changes with every keyword that you use. When the bar is filled, that means that you have a lot of competition for that particular keyword. Try to use keywords that are somewhere in the middle so that you'll have a good shot of driving traffic to your site.
3. Do not take for granted the Local Search Trends Column. If you want to hit the jackpot, use this tool because in this particular column, you will know in what particular month are most keyword used by users and when they are not. When you have this data, you know when you can start writing more articles about your keyword and ramp up your campaign. If you want more tips, go to http://www.boostmyonlinebusiness.comfor free tips on free paid advertising.
4. Narrow down your research. Click on the columns button and when you do, you will notice that a list of columns will come up. You can then click on what data you want to see and what data you want to hide. When you do this, you can focus on more keywords that you want and you don't have to bother with the rest of your irrelevant information.
5. Lastly, export your keywords on notepad or excel. This new list will help you in your Pay-Per-Click Campaign and if you're setting up your own niche, this can be very helpful.

Data storage encryption technology by Chrisgayle

Data storage encryption technology   by Chrisgayle

The aim of data storage does not end with data backup alone, what is more important is how secure is this backup. Sensitive information has to be protected from trespassers and for this a need for a secure online storage is vital. Before opting for online storage it is important to check if the environment is safe and secure for your data. Remember that your data is vulnerable when it is sent over a remote backup server through an internet connection. This does not mean that there are no options to keep your data secure. The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is the standard for internet encryption. These are nothing but mere cryptographic standards that breaks your transmission into codes. Even if the data is intercepted the trespasser will not be able to make out the information.
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) used 128 bit encryption which mean a combination of around 3.4 x 10^38. The number is huge and cracking the code is almost next to impossible. There is a possibility that hackers can break into the server that saves your data. In such cases providing an acceptable level of security is vital. A password is needed to unlock the encryption, if this password is not provided only unreadable content will be displayed. The encryption works in such a way that there is no need for the password to be present on the remote data server. If this happens the hacker can easily get access to your password and access the information with ease.
Another method to control unwanted access to your data on the server is IP access restrictions. This is the ultimate piece of security that is offered to restrict data access. IP address is given when you connect to the internet. The IP address helps to find you. In other words you can call it your identification on the network. The concept is simple, unless you have given access to the IP address the host will prohibit access. This means unknown users cannot access information without your permission. If all the security protocols are in place it is difficult to break open a data storage system.
In simple words encryption is scrambling of data so that the trespasser cannot actually read them. Data storage is a great concern for many enterprises as the amount of data keeps increasing by the day. Another issue that is being confronted by many enterprises is the issue of security. With a number of storage devices and methodologies having arrived recently, it becomes difficult to secure data from the hackers. The online storage technologies should use these methodologies and help their clients to access information quickly and securely.

How to Lose Your Data by Jennifer Bell

How to Lose Your Data   by Jennifer Bell

Computers are amazing machines. Not only do they allow us to play card games, play music and watch movies, but they are filing cabinets for our important documents, digital photos and financial information. They hold massive amounts of important data. Much of this data would be hard to replace or re-create if lost. Some of it might be irreplaceable. Take the following steps if you want to:
    • Cause damage to your computer
    • Shorten the life of your machine
    • Ruin your hard drive
    • Lose all of your important data
    • Pay a data recovery company to recover your lost files and data
      Keep That Computer Dirty
If you want to cause damage to your desktop and shorten its life, never clean the interior. Do not shut off the power, remove the power cord, disconnect all of the peripherals and carefully set the computer case on the table. Then, do not use a can of compressed air, designed for electronics, and carefully blow the dust and debris from the heat sinks on the motherboard. Make sure not to remove the built-up dirt and dust on the cooling fans. These are used to dissipate heat from the electronic components. Heat buildup will reduce the efficiency of the processor, hard drive and other components, hopefully causing failure. Allowing dust and dirt to accumulate will cause the interior components to build up enough heat to fry electronics, if not fish.
While we are on the subject of heat, make sure that you leave your laptop sealed up in your car on hot summer days. Place it in the back window to ensure that the glass will intensify the rays of the sun like a magnifying glass.
Treat Your Laptop Like a Notebook
That is to say, treat it like a three-ring binder. Be sure to toss it around, dropping it soundly on the table, car seat or bench on the bus. This may allow the delicate read and write heads on the hard drive to jostle around, potentially scratching the drive platters and possibly become damaged themselves. Do this whenever you can to ensure a trip to the data recovery expert.
      Neglect Basic Computer Data Maintenance
Never, under any circumstance, backup your data. Doing so will only allow easy data recovery and keep you from spending money on a hard disk data recovery service. Do not update your antivirus scanner. Do not even install one if you can help it. It will only safeguard your computer and leave your data protected. Antivirus software greatly reduces the opportunity for data loss. Additionally, defragmenting your disk will decrease seek times, increasing efficiency. Keeping it fragmented will cause the drive to work harder and decrease its life by increasing wear and tear.
Sadly, proper maintenance and handling will increase the life of your computer or laptop and help keep your data safe. But there is hope. To paraphrase a popular commercial: "It's your data; lose it when you want to!"

Extreme Weather and Data Loss by Jennifer Bell

Extreme Weather and Data Loss   by Jennifer Bell

There is nothing more soothing than the sound and smell of a gentle spring rain. However, severe thunderstorms and torrential rainfall bring the possibility of unexpected data loss if the correct precautions are note taken. Even with careful planning there is still the potential for loss due to unexpected circumstances. Many dangerous severe weather conditions could wreak havoc in important, critical computer data.
Lightning strikes cause power surges, voltage spikes and potential power loss. All of these events cause damage and loss on unprotected systems. Surges and spikes cause damage to sensitive electronic and electrical components. Damage to the electronic components of the hard drive will render the drive unreadable and the data inaccessible. The other components of the computer may be damaged as well.
High winds are also potentially damaging to the electrical infrastructure of the office, business or manufacturing facility. Along with lightning, wind damage also shuts down electrical systems. If uninterruptable power supplies do not protect computers, they will shut down suddenly and improperly. Not only will the data currently in use be lost, but the operating system could suffer corruption of important system files. The drive on the computer would become inaccessible. Furthermore, the potential for physical damage to the drive exists. The components of the read and write heads may suffer damage and scratch the delicate platter of the drive.
There are many more possibilities of data loss from other extreme weather conditions. Extreme heat and cold, tornados and flooding are potential causes of both physical and logical drive damage. Part of any businesses emergency action plan should include the steps to take when emergency data recovery is necessary. The business should research and investigate all possibilities and consult a data recovery company for advice. Some types of data loss can be remedied by a software solution and often the computer user can do this. However, it is a distinct possibility that improper handling could damage the data irreparably.
The data recovery service should be able to handle any type of data loss. The computer owner should understand, however, that not all services are equal. A quality, reputable recovery company has spent a lot of time and money in developing an environment that ensures the best success in recovery. The technicians should be trained extensively in the proper methods and means of hard disk file recovery. The work area in which the data is recovered will also be top quality. A Class 100 or ISO 5 cleanroom is vital to effective data recovery. The area is kept free of the minute contaminants that damage the delicate surfaces and components of the drive. Thedata recovery expert also takes measures to ensure no contaminants are introduces into the cleanroom. Protect your data before severe weather hits by checking out the data recovery options available to you now.
