The Nokia X6 has been doing the business at the top of the X Series range for more than 18 months now, but it has an exciting new successor in the Nokia X7. The perfect upgrade? You better believe it! We go into the details after the cut.
Since it first surfaced back in 2009, the X Series has been one of Nokia’s most interesting ranges, combining all the smartphone features and functions you get elsewhere in Nokia’s product range with a bold sense of style and innovation and a clear focus on entertainment.
So far no handset has captured the X Series spirit better than the Nokia X6, which first started shipping back at the end of 2009 but which remains an underrated favourite among Nokia’s Symbian^3 portfolio.
But that’s all changed now with the announcement of the Symbian Anna-infused Nokia X7, which we’re expecting to go on sale as soon as next month.
So if you’re thinking of upgrading that Nokia X6 of yours for a newer model, is it really as simple as turning 6 into 7 and grabbing yourself a brand new Nokia X7? Actually, it is – and if you do take the plunge you’re in for a real treat.
The Nokia X6 is loved for its edgy, attractive design, and fear not – upgrade to the Nokia X7 and you’ll have a handset just as eye-catching to show off. The design approach is unquestionably different, but the tapered edges of the Nokia X7 give it a bold look that stands out from the crowd.
And the visual appeal doesn’t end there: step up to the Nokia X7 and you’ll get the same 360 x 640 resolution as on the Nokia X6, but instead of a 3.2-inch screen you’ll have a 4-inch display to play with – that’s a full 25 per cent more real estate from corner to corner.
On the inside, meanwhile, all the key components have been given a considerable step up. The processor goes from a 434MHz chip to a beefy 680MHz affair, while you’ve got an 8-Megapixel camera to play with, complete with dual LED flash and 720p video recording – that’s opposed to the 5-Megapixel snapper you’re used to on the Nokia X6.
On the surface of it, going from the Nokia X6′s internal storage complement – up to 32GB depending on which model you’ve got – to the microSD card-based storage on the Nokia X7 may seem like a step backwards. But there’s an 8GB card in the box to get you started, and the convenience of removable storage, as well as the ability to upgrade to a bigger card at your own discretion mean this isn’t the limitation you might originally think.
All told the Nokia X7 is a welcome new face on top of the X Series range, and sure to put a smile on yours should you upgrade from the Nokia X6 – or any other Nokia handset, for that matter.
So what do you think, will you be upgrading your Nokia X6 to the Nokia X7 when it finally launches? Let us know what you think in the Comments below.
