Some computer shorcuts for you for the ease of use.


Hold the windows key and press M

This will minimise all windows in one key press! This is the same as pressing the 'Show Desktop' icon but without having to click on it. It should be noted that Windows key + D also works for this!

Hold the windows key and press L

This will lock your workstation instantly. This means that if you are in a public place or a shared machine and go for a toilet break but do not wish for anyone to sneak a peak at what you are doing, or at worst steal your files, then this will take you back to the login screen instantly. Very handy indeed!

Hold alt then press F4

This is quite a common one but should be mentioned here anyway. This key press will close your current window. If your screen is getting cluttered you can go on a 'close rampage' by holding down the F4 key as well! Good times!

Hold ctrl then press F4

The junior brother of alt F4. Instead of closing the whole window this will close internal windows within the current program. For example if you have multiple windows open in one instance of Microsoft Word this will close them one at a time. The best part is this works for the tab browsing that has come in to play in recent browsers. The key press closes the active tab you are viewing! This is one of the best computer tricks I find when browsing as it is really effective for FireFox for closing tabs.

 Hold alt and press tab

This will cycle between programs on your computer. This feature isn't that useful until you install this nice little Microsoft tool which will show a thumbnail of the program your about the switch to. If you don't wish to activate the selected program keep holding down alt and press tab again to cycle to the next one!

Holding the windows key and pressing break is one of the lesser known but more useful keypresses!
You can set up custom shortcut keys via this field in the properties of any shortcut!

 Hold the windows key and press break

A lesser known shortcut but still useful! This one will open the System Properties dialog window which displays your RAM etc.

Hold the windows key and press E

This will open 'My Computer' in explorer style mode. This is very handy if you want to access your files and disk drives from anywhere without having to find the icon on the desktop or start menu.

Custom Shortcut Keys!

Another lesser known trick is setting up your own custom key presses. This works for a per-program basis. To setup a shortcut key to your favorite program first you need to right click on the shortcut icon you commonly use and then press on properties. Click on the Shortcut' tab and there will be a text field called 'Shortcut key'. Simply click in that and enter the key press you wish to use. Press OK and that key press is permanently associated with that program. This is very handy for many things such as opening word or opening your favorite game!

For the ease of using internet on a personal computer we often save our passwords in the web browser (Remember the pop up with "save the password", "not now", "never for this site"). 2-STEP VERIFICATION FOR GOOGLE ACCOUNTS TO AVOID HACKING

2-step verification adds an extra layer of security to users OF Google Apps accounts by requiring them to enter a verification code in addition to their username and password, when signing in to their account.

The Google Apps Service Level Agreement does not apply to any services used in connection with 2-step verification if the verification process relies on third-party voice or data providers to deliver the verification code.

Why should You enable 2-step verification for my account?

2-step verification helps protect a user's account from unauthorized access should someone manage to obtain their password. Even if a password is cracked, guessed, or otherwise stolen, an attacker can't sign in without access to the user's verification codes, which only the user can obtain via their own mobile phone.

Requirements

A mobile phone that can receive the verification code via text message or phone call.
Or 
An Android, BlackBerry, or iPhone. These devices use the Google Authenticator mobile app to generate the verification code.
Note: 2-step verification can't be used for accounts using a SAML single sign-on service (SSO). 
2-step verification is only available in US English in the next-generation version of the Google Apps administrator control panel. 

How it works

You enable 2-step verification for your domain in your Google Apps control panel. See Setup 2-step verification for your domain for how to enable 2-step verification for your account. We recommend that you notify your users of this new security process and include instructions on how to get started.
Note: You can't force your users to use 2-step verification, they must opt-in themselves.

The user enrolls in 2-step verification, and selects the method for receiving their verification code on their mobile phone: the Google Authenticator app, text message, or phone call. How quickly they get their code via text message or phone call depends on their service provider and location. We recommend users with smartphones to use the Google Authenticator app which can generate codes without a network connection.




To set up 2-code verification,you need to follow these steps:



Sign in to your Google Apps Gmail Account and click Settings (in the top right corner).
Under the Accounts tab, click Google Account settings.
Under Personal Settings, click Using 2-step verification
Follow the steps in the 2-step verification guide to set up 2-step verification.

The next time the user signs in to their Google Apps account on a new browser or device, they enter their username and password as usual. They're then prompted with a second page to enter a verification code. When your user checks Remember verification for this computer, they're only prompted to enter a verification code once every 30 days per browser or after deleting their browser's cookies. Your users should not check this if they're at a public or shared computer.

Depending on how they opted to receive their code, the user gets their time-based, one-time code from the Google Authenticator app on their smartphone or via text message or phone call. They then enter the code to successfully sign in.

If a user loses their phone, they can use backup codes to sign in. 


Signing in to mobile devices with application-specific passwords
Once your users enroll in 2-step verification, they may need to use application-specific passwords in addition to their verification codes. For installed applicationsthat don't have a 2-step verification field, your users will need to enter an application-specific password once per device or application in place of their regular password to access their Google Account.

Common devices and applications that require application-specific passwords are: Gmail and Google Calendar on Android-based phones, ActiveSync for Windows Mobile and iPhone, and IMAP clients such as Thunderbird. See Sign in to mobile or desktop apps for more details.

Remember that good security practices are critical to the integrity of your user's Google Account.

1.Log on to your Facebook account.

2.Click on the "Account" on the top right and then click the 4th option "Privacy Settings".

3.In the section "Connecting on Facebook" click "View Settings".

4.You will see 7 options there. One of them would be "See your friend list" and there would be the options on how you can modify the visibility of your friend list.

When you click that option at the right side, you can change it to other 3 options(Friends and Networks, Friends of Friends, Friends only). You can even customize the visibility manually.

It gets quite boring to keep updating your status using text when voice can express things so much better. That's where this amazing Facebook application comes in, which lets you update your status, post voice messages on your friends walls and send voice messages to people.

The application is called MyMic and you'll have to allow it access to your Facebook profile to make use of all it's features. Just visit the application page and start using MyMic to send short voice messages or update your status. There is however a time limit for use of this service. You'll only be able to record a message or status that is about 20 seconds long for free, but you can record a minute long message by paying for the service.

This application is child's play, and very use to use. All you need is a microphone and something to speak into it!! Once your message is recorded, the application will ask you if you want to send it to a friend or just put it up as your status. Once you choose that you'll be asked whether you'd like to post this new application on your wall and promote it, also you can customize settings such as who can see your Voice update.

Try it out, it's a fun little app. And your friends don't have to install anything to listen to your Voice message. It's that simple.

BlacMail allows you to connect with other popular web mail service providers like Yahoo! Mail, Gmail and Hotmail as well as popular social networking sites like Facebook, Orkut and Twitter. Additionally, it allows you to share job alerts from popular employment portals like Naukri, TimesJobs and Monster. Presently, this pushmail service is available only in certain places in southern India. However, BSNL plans to launch the service nationwide soon.

Features of BlacMail

* White list –This feature helps you to receive emails from selected group of contacts only and thus avoid spam easily.
* Separate Mail Box – BlacMail is a separate app and hence it has a separate inbox for your mails. It does not clutter your inbox with SMS(s).
* BlacMail PIN – The PIN is to ensure the safety of your BlacMail emails. After activating the PIN, you will have to enter that PIN every time you want to access BlacMail app on your mobile.

Here I am going to explain two methods to find your gmail creation date.

1.By Using Gmail Welcome Mail:
Whenever you create a gmail account you will get an welcome mail from gmail team. So,here is the tip ,this "Welcome Mail" has the same date as your Gmail account creation date.To get this mail and there by the date,Go to Gmail inbox and hit on Oldest
button to get the last message. This message will be welcome mail from Gmail Team.You can note this mail date and this will be your gmail creation date.
But,the problem arises when if you are deleted the welcome mail from you inbox.If you done so the above method will not help you to find the gmail creation date.so read the below method.

2.By Using POP:
This method will work only for accounts created after 2007.

since "Your Account Creation Date"
