Posted: 14 Jun 2011 04:35 AM PDT Quote: Downtown Auckland is like certain parts of Mumbai, except less dirty and fewer homeless people. Traffic is nearly as bad, though. Granted, the population density is less, but that's not what we're testing. I'm more concerned about the number of users per base station, and the number of users I could get in Mumbai in a 200-300m radius would probably require 1-2km or more in NZ. If anything, the performance of the same technology could potentially be better in India because there would be far less distance attenuation as the density of base stations in Mumbai (or anywhere else in India) would almost certainly be higher. Hamilton could be compared to maybe... Khar... or Andheri - quite a lot of trees, mostly bungalows and low-rise buildings, low to medium density residential area, each property covering approximately 1/2 an acre. Naturally, the test would happen in India independently and be assessed separately because buildings in India are structurally different and, of course, many people have those blasted metal cages over their windows. Fortunately, outdoor aerials for wifi are relatively inexpensive: if we need to supply an antenna, CPE and telephone adapter, it would cost just Rs4k - probably even less if I ordered in bulk; although the theory goes that being WiFi, NO extra hardware should be needed, which may reduce the cost to both Hayai and the user even further. So, the plan is to test with and without the extra equipment by seeing if I can merely connect to the WiFi AP from 1-2km away on a mobile phone first (and see what kind of performance I get), then try with a laptop without extras, then with extras to see how it affects the signal, after which I would be testing the Wimax equipment. From those results, I'll evaluate the direct cost, performance, reliability in both clear and bad weather, overall usability, operational expenses, from which I can work out the cost per megabit and per user and see which of the two options works out better. But hey, for now it's just a "let's check it out" situation. Nothing is set to change unless the results prove to be completely mindblasting. even if the base is a high power base unit, and its transmitted signals reach the user, how would the user be able to transmit at a high enough power to reach the base?
Cheapest 2 Mbps Internet Ever ( 4 G Net )On average 300/Month Unlimited Posted: 14 Jun 2011 04:34 AM PDT Even at the wholesale pricing BSNL gets, any ISP offering 2mbit/s unlimited service at this price would be killed fairly immediately, unless they can find a way to mitigate the average users usage to about maybe 90GB (like if *everyone* was using DC++ hubs or something, and even then that would probably kill the base stations)... And that's not even taking in to account any of the ISP's infrastructure (base stations & fibre, core routers, offices & staff etc), DoT payment obligations or the spectrum license fee if this "4G" you're referring to is LTE... so maybe 30-40GB - or less if the ISP subsidizes the equipment you use to connect to their service (you don't really think those WiMax and/or LTE devices only cost 2000 rupees retail, do you?)
The Mega Movie Review/Suggestion Thread! Posted: 14 Jun 2011 04:19 AM PDT I saw Kaante first and then saw Reservoir Dogs. Reservoir Dogs is many times better than Kaante. If i had saw Reservoir Dogs first, I would have never completed watching shitty remake Kaante.
Police break up hunger strike by Baba Ramdev Posted: 14 Jun 2011 04:18 AM PDT Yeah i heard about him in the morning only, but forgot to mention. Really sad to know that. But the channel persons were telling "What was the Govt doing till now? Why didnt any one even think of him?" I have only 1 question to them - "Why didnt u people report it on time?" Atleast the public cud have taken note of it.
